Welcome to Show #164!

No Jeffrey this week, he’s off being the big-time Hollywood producer. We miss the Vorlon, but he’s being wined and dined, so it’s all good.

Tim comments on his copy of “Asked and Answered: Volume 1″, and the slight differences between the finished version and the pre-production versions we’d already seen, and more.

Summer also regales the audience with select readings from her copy of the Fan Club provided “Crusade Writers Bible”, hopefully addressing some of the questions about Gideon’s Apocalypse Box, and Dureena’s proposed destiny.

And yes, the red Fan Club stamp means it’s official, so go ahead and buy that copy off of eBay, Gary.

Welcome to Show #163!

In-A-Kosha-Da-Vida has affected Jeffrey’s mind. There are so many “days” on July 1st and 2nd, it’s amazing people get anything done in early July.

Who knew there was a Ducktona 500 and a Kenducky Derby?

Feedbackapalooza: Tim and Summer try to burn through the buildup of voicemails, and we haven’t even gotten to the ones commenting on the JMS interview yet.

And yes, we’re going to start throwing in more voicemails during the regular shows from here on out… otherwise, we’d easily start running over an hour fifteen on Feedbackapalooza shows!

Babylon 5 Musical Project Suggestions: We need a B5 or Vorlon version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, and a West Side Story parody with B5 themed modifications. Get your imaginations churning, and send ‘em in!

Yes, you heard correctly… we are all Summer.

Feedbackapalooza Jr: Because of rogue tachyons bombarding the area around Draco Vista Studios, we are experiencing a causality break that threw spatial-temporal ordering into disarray, giving us 3 Summers but no Tim, no Jeffrey and no Mike.

So in order to prevent any permanent damage to the space-time continuum, we bring you a special episode: Feedbackapalooza Jr!

Gary wants to know if Lochley ever specifically stated which side of the Earth Civil War she was on; Gary was amused by the GoToMeeting ads; Gary is shopping for tequila and follows Jeffrey’s recommendation; Gary wonders if there was a parallel between the different seasons of B5 and the different chapters viewed in “Deconstruction of Falling Stars”; Gary muses on whether or not Lennier thinks joining the Rangers will improve his chances to be with Delenn after Sheridan dies in 20 years; Tom appreciates the looming feeling of dread cast over Season 5; Tom also loves that Season 5 also breaks all the main characters out of the delineations drawn up for them in Seasons 1-4; next, Tom gives a Star Trek analogy for the character shifts we see in Season 5.

Arkle adds some perspective on the “Vorlon on the Roof”, and wonders why Summer didn’t like the segment with the monks from “Deconstruction”; Doug surmises that maybe the shrapnel from shooting through ducts caused the injury that bled (shenanigans!); Brian solves the problem of what color bunny ears the Easter Kosh would be wearing; Gary thought that Lochley had more of a command presence than Ivanova and Sheridan right from the start.

Emails: Steven wonders if it would be possible to get an interview with Haley McLane, the voice of the station’s computer; Robinson wonders if Jerry Doyle could be the love child of Bruce Willis and Terry O’Quinn… and John provides some info on why the Space Shuttle couldn’t manuever from the Hubble to the ISS, and suggests playing with the Orbiter Flight Sim game.

From deep in the Vorlon archives, Summer-3 reads a memo about a B5 story making the cover of a magazine called “The Screening Room”, and the article about the acquisition of B5 by TNT.

Indianapolis 500, MLS Soccer, NCAA Lacrosse, or baseball… however you choose to celebrate, we hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Summer wants to find out when “Dreams with Sharp Teeth” will make it to DVD, since she didn’t have Sundance Channel to catch it when they aired it. Happy Birthday, Unca Harlan (May 27th)!

Jeffrey wants to know if there are any MIT students or professors listening to the podcast… no, we’re not sure why the Vorlon wants to know…

Welcome to Show #145!

Seriously, how do you guys like that Babylon Podcast Season 4 opening sequence? Crazy cool, isn’t it?

Contest: We’ve come up with a contest to give away a copy of the B5 Chronologies scriptbook! Can you identify all the voices in the podcast opening montage? If you think you can, submit your entries to contest [at] sliceofscifi [dot] com with the Subject line of Babylon Podcast Chronologies Contest, and include your mailing address.

We need all 12 voices correctly identified and in order, and a single winner will be selected from all the people who submit fully correct entries, and participants who helped with the lines are not eligible to enter this contest… maybe next time, gang.

Submit your entries by midnight Pacific time, March 3rd, and we’ll randomly pick a winner from pool of correct entries live on the live feed on March 4th. Every voice in there is known somewhere in the podosphere, so get cracking!

Visit Deep Geeking, and if you want to contribute a geeking essay, send an email to Summer.

Discussion: Tim and Summer revisit the discussion about Ivanova’s “I am Death Incarnate” declaration before leading the White Star fleet up against the advanced EA Destroyer fleet. We compare it to President Laura Roslin’s speech from the recent BSG Season 4 episode “Blood on the Scales”, and Summer amends her previous assessment of Ivanova’s speech. She doesn’t hate it, like Tim and Mike do, but it definitely doesn’t rank as high in her estimation as before.

Voicemail: Arkle adds his thoughts about and full support for Ivanova’s “Death Incarnate” speech; Todd from Grand Rapids adds his comments about the Ivanova speech; a comment on how maybe they did hang up on Ivanova during her speech and no one told her about it.

Troy sent an email saying that Tim’s wrong about Ivanova’s speech, and how apropos it is for a warrior walking into her death; another email thinks that it appropriately displays her state of being near the breaking point, under the pressures of leading the fleet and being worried about Sheridan’s welfare in captivity.

Bethany from Oklahoma is catching up after being without Internet access while in Colorado for a month, and she watched episodes of “Babylon 5″ on her drive back home through the Rocky Mountains… good thing she didn’t really have to watch the screen rather than the road; comments on the various themes in “Between the Darkness and the Light”, with the struggles of many of the characters being echoes of the title; Dave from Kentucky lets us know that there’s a large selection of Babylon 5 ships done in Legos; Doug calls in about #134 and the difference in sizes between the B4 and B5 stations; Gary has a question for Jeffrey about the Babylon 5 Mall Tour mentioned in some old issues of “The Universe Today”, and Jeffrey tells us what he remembers about the tour, a promotional venture by TNT to promote the upcoming new Season 5 episodes (paging Sandy Bruckner!)

Gary sends his apologies to Jeffrey for bringing Ed Wasser to the show for us to talk with; Edmund from Greenville wants to chat about “Intersection in Real Time”, and how it originally was slated to be the Season 4 finale, and thinks the way we ended up receiving the shows works better than the original plan; Bethany from Oklahoma shares her thoughts on “Intersections in Real Time”; Kate from Chicagoland has issues with the Shadow War wrapping up too quickly; Neil from Bowie comments on his shiny new copy of the TV Movies Scriptbook; Bethany from Oklahoma comments on the discussion for “Exercise of Vital Powers”; Gary lets us know that JMS didn’t win the BAFTA for The Changeling, and Jeffrey says that the winner, In Bruges, is well worth checking out.

And finally, the Return of Jarsto! Jarsto smacks both Tim and Summer for not remembering “In The Beginning” in detail in regards to how the Babylon Project came about, from Show #138 (Summer claims sleep deprivation); Jarsto chimes in again about Marcus gets the lyrics wrong during his rendition of “A Modern Major General”, and submits that perhaps the Vorlons, and NOT the Shadows, destroyed the first three stations, since they knew they’d need to take B4 back in time for their use.

Babylon Podcast: You’re not sure what happened to you, but you liked it… Happy Vorlontine’s Day, everybody!

Feedback: This week, Tim and Summer run the gamut of the rest of the voicemail and email feedback left over from last week, all alone in the night.

Summer is really jonesing for access to the Titan Magazines stash of Babylon 5 pics that they used in creating the now-defunct Babylon 5 Magazine. Yeah, those would be nice to have.

No Jeffrey this week, but Brad Bowyer jumps in to help. We chat a bit about the announcement that JMS will be penning the script for the remake of Forbidden Planet, and the ramifications and ripple effects of that news.

Feedback: This week, Tim, Summer and Brad handle the Feedbackapalooza! There’s so much feedback, we may were not able to contain it all in one show.

Welcome to Show #131!

Jeffrey’s back in fine form, but still recovering nicely from the Vorlon Virus. Tim reads a message from JMS about progress on the Lensman project, and Summer still wants more news about World War Z.

Zombielon 5?

Feedbackapalooza: Or would this week better be called Garypalooza? Either way, the Vorlon is easily amused when listening to phone spam with audio effects applied to the clip.

Welcome to Show #124!

Kosh. Rastaman. I got nothin’.

Feedbackapalooza Part Deux!! Chris Lester from Metamor City Podcast and C.A. Sizemore are still in on the Feedback Fun.

Colin doesn’t appreciate the tone of JMS’ announcement; Freehold South chimes in on the JMS announcement, and feels blindsided by it; Bethany from OK comments on “Into the Fire”, agreeing with Tim’s desire to see what was going on in the Alliance ships saving Sheridan and Delenn, and disagreeing with Summer calling the Vorlons/Shadows “whiny”.

Email from Jerry in Ashburn comments on alternatives to deeper explorations of the revelations from “Into the Fire”, and suggests that “Intersections in Real Time” could have been cut (we disagree!); Edmund weighs in on the JMS announcement, theorizing that JMS might be trying to flex his newly found status to see what he might be able to create; John in Birmingham agrees with Brad’s viewpoint on JMS’ announcement (a comment from PodCulture).

New question: Vipers vs Starfuries? What do you think? Summer thinks the Vipers might actually take out the Starfuries, and while Thunderbolts might fare a shade better, they’d still lose out.

Mike Smithwick responds with what he would have cut from B5, and what he would have added in; Ann in CA wonders if JMS’ announcement was more of an indication that he hasn’t had the chance to really focus on creating more B5 stories, be it lack of time or introduction of a block; an X-Files tangent leads to a comparison between Chris Carter’s long-term work versus JMS’ long-term work.

Jeffrey notes that we haven’t gotten Christopher Franke and Ed Wasser for us to talk to, and promises to do better; comments on inconsistencies “Into the Fire”; Andy comments on the “Into the Fire” discussion, and chimes in on what he thinks could have happened had Londo failed in his plan to kill Cartagia and destroy the Shadow ships on Centauri Prime; Valerie in MD disagrees with Tim’s opinion that “The Long Night” was a bad title… she also would love to listen to a Lensman podcast, and is waiting for our commentary on the Script Books (we’re working on that last one).

Go check out Deep Geeking when you get a chance, and if you want to contribute a geeking essay, get ahold of Summer.
