Playing with Minor Site Updates

8

We’ve had a bunch of people mention that it would be nice to have a little more information in the titles about the content of the episodes. I’m also making mental notes about improvements to the site layout.

First, what are your thoughts on having episode titles here be more like the ones we use over at Slice of SciFi?

For example, we’d have:

Babylon Podcast #162: Interview with JMS, Part 2
Babylon Podcast #163: Feedbackapalooza
Babylon Podcast #167: Season 5: Day of the Dead

instead of just the show numbers alone as episode titles.

Also, I’ve already added highly improved buttons to add individual articles to various aggregate or social media sites (the Share/Save tags at the end of each article), plus a ratings gizmo, so you can rate an article or episode on a scale of 1-5 stars.

Would that help or detract from what you need or like to see on the website?

If there are any other suggestions for the website (aside from more photos and screenshots), now’s the time to voice them to get them considered!

The examples given would be a great start.

I like it alot. Improvements are always a good thing. You Rock!

It’s been a while ago now, but I was one of those strange folks that went all the way back to the beginning because I liked what I heard. So yes, through that lens of the Bab Podcast in its totality, a uniform easily sorted titling scheme would be utter coolness.

Thank you for all your hard work just to please me. Like Gary says, “You Rock!”

Well, not only am I enhancing the episode titles, I’m adding a few more tags to help with keyword searches. How I never used the tags “baseball” or “Zima” before escapes me.

And don’t gripe about the use of “Zhadum” in the podcast title for Show #109… podpress just wouldn’t take the apostrophes without pitching a fit. Works fine for the blog post title though, so maybe the post title will supercede.

  5. Frank says:

Well, I for one am incredibly jealous of anyone with a life so perfect, with so little going on in it that they feel the use of “Zhadum” in a podcast title is worth griping about.

You said it; we understood it; communication was achieved. Anyone that dares gripe to you should be forced to transcribe all past episodes for the hearing impaired. That’ll learn ‘em.

I’d like to make a little different statement.

The title as such does not really interest me (in a positive way) as I will always listen to the podcast (and yes, although you’ve never heard of me, I’ve been a loyal listerener since podcast number 1). So, the extra information is not really necessary.

But I do understand that it might me more informative for new listerers and that searche engines might catch up a little better.

And no, Neil and Gary, I don’t think that you will be picking up this podcast any better with a new title :-)

And yes, I’m from the Jarsto country.

I like the idea of more information in the titles (and thanks for all the great work, Bab-Casters)! :)

  8. Gary The Great says:

That’s what you think Martijn. It will make it easier for me to reference the episode I’m calling in about!
